Shoutout To The Morgan State Students Who Came Out To Help Clean Vandalism From This Weekend's Protests
So you may have heard things got a little out of hand in Baltimore this weekend. A few protesters stole the headlines by destroying everything in sight, vandalizing innocent businesses, and putting others’ safety in jeopardy. It was a goddamn madhouse downtown. Hell, this poor guy almost had his face sliced off in broad daylight in front of Sliders’…
As RDT noted, it was so bad that the Mayor had to lock thousands of people into Camden Yards until they could deem it safe enough for them to leave the O’s game. Regardless of how you view the facts (or more specifically, the lack thereof) on what happened to Freddie Gray, destruction of city streets and businesses is in no way helpful to the situation. I think we can all agree on that. Violence causes more tension, breeds more violence, and ultimately prevents any constructive progress between the public and the police.
So while I won’t delve any further into the politics on the matter as Barstool is far from the forum for it, I just wanted to shine some light on some of the good deeds done in response to the events. For those who don’t know, Morgan State is a historically black university in Baltimore. Race has clearly been pointed to as a source of tension, so to see students from MSU go out and help businesses clean up destruction with mops and buckets in tow… I just thought it was really fucking cool and worthy of some love. These students are dedicated to facilitating an environment where the city can have the healthy discussions it needs, and that deserves more headlines. Bravo.
